Good fencing starts with trust, in your materials, and in the hands that shape them. In 2012, Rob put his experience to work and built something dependable from the ground up.
That’s how Canterbury United Posts was born: from a belief in doing things the right way.
Born from necessity, built with care, and grown through word of mouth, our business has spent over a decade producing top-quality round wood fence posts and poles, all made on-site to the highest standards.
We don’t cut corners. Every post runs through a doweling machine, meaning straighter, stronger, and cleaner timber with no nodes or twist. It's this commitment to doing things the right way that’s earned us the trust of farmers and contractors across the region.
Today, Canterbury United Posts is a true family operation. Rob’s sons are now part of the team, and the workshop wouldn’t be the same without three loyal dogs and three slightly less helpful cats.

Our Team
Our business was founded by Rob Garden, who brought decades of fencing timber experience and a get-it-done attitude to the table. What started as a one-man operation has grown into a true family team — with Rob’s sons, Mason & Brodie, now working alongside him and a few four-legged helpers (three dogs and some very opinionated cats) always nearby. For us, it’s not just about timber — it’s about building something solid together.
